Proclima is proud to be supporting the first Parka Wrap project at Ara Education Charitable Trust. Improving the performance of buildings for the energy and health outcomes for people is at the heart of what we do, so improving existing buildings is critical.

The Parka Wrap system uses proclima’s peel and stick weathertightness product ADHERO to protect the existing structure and cladding during works. It also provides an airtightness function for the building, and the insulation is installed outside the ADHERO line.
Proclima tapes are used for joining to other building elements including the windows.

Connection to windows:

TESCON EXTORA profil is used to connect the windows on all four sides on the internal face – this replaces PEF rod and foam and has been E2/VM2 tested.

On the outside face of the window a connection is made at head and jambs using 100mm wide TESCON EXTORA tape and this is connected back to the weathertightness line of ADHERO.

In renovation work, airtight junctions between floor and wall, and wall and ceiling can be challenging to achieve, so in this project the use of AEROSANA VISCONN – a spray or brush-applied airtightness film – is used for hard-to-reach areas. This has been applied above the soffit prior to insulating, the wall to ceiling junction on the gable ends, and the flooring to boundary joist connection to make this more robust.

Please contact Proclima to find out more about these reliable quality products.

  • Why was Rockwool used rather than PIR insulation?
Both Rockwool and Enertherm PIR were used on this project – and both have been used for Outsulation before. Rockwool is ideal for retrofitting because it accommodates the irregularities in the original substrate.
  • Why did you add the insulation to the gable end?
The PIR section is half the thickness of the Rockwool for the same R-value which allowed us to cope with a step in the existing cladding line, and the height lines up with the ceiling insulation depth – the gap can be seen in the below detail.
